ACCIDENT ON HWY. 299 KILLS WILLOW CREEK MAN

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident near Blue Lake. Officers say 64-year-old John C. Mason of Willow Creek was killed early Sunday evening on highway 299. Officers say he was headed westbound near Buckley Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and rolled off and over the embankment.
Mason was the only person in the car. Officers say he was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say they are unsure if impairment was a factor in the accident, and that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time.
