BODY IDENTIFIED: FAMILY SAYS THE DEAD BODY FOUND BURNED INSIDE A TRAILER IN CRESCENT CITY IS THEIR DAUGHTER
Crescent City, CA- New details emerging tonight about the female body found burned inside a trailer in Crescent City. The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office says it was a power cable running through the front door to a generator that sparked the blaze. Sheriff Dean Wilson told us, "That cord probably got frayed with the opening and closing of that door... Where her body was found it looks to be that she retreated to the back of the trailer."
This is Ayla Starr, and although the DNA investigation is not confirmed, the family has come forward to say the victim is their 24-year old daughter. Starr was born in Crescent City and leaves behind 2 kids, a 5-year old daughter and 6-year old son.
The Sheriff’s Office says there are no current dental records of Ayla, so DNA from the body and from her father had to be sent out to be matched.
Investigating authorities say they won’t comment on her identity until the study is confirmed in 4 to 6 weeks. Sheriff Wilson added, "We know who she is. Its a legal indication it's really and legal and technical identification with the DNA at this point in time."
In the meantime, the family is planning a memorial service for Ayla. An account has been set-up to help with the funeral cost and her children. If you would like to donate you can email her mother at ‘dmstarr64@hotmail.com.'
