The wait is over. The H-DN football season got underway with six games. We have all the scores and previews of all the weekend action. Humboldt State was at Redwood Bowl for its final scrimmage and the experts are back for the Question of the Week.

 

It was another great showing from the track at the Humboldt County Fair. Trainer Quinn Howey stole the show this year dominating the field. But as News Channel 3's Chet Davis explains, Howey's decision to choose Brittany Smith as one of his jockeys was maybe his best move.

PORTLAND, Oregon –    Humboldt State is the favorite to win its second Great Northwest Athletic Conference football title in three seasons.
 
The Lumberjacks finished in a tie for second  place with Western Oregon last year after winning their first GNAC football title in 2011.

For skateboarders on the North Coast, sometimes the weather can ruin all the fun. But not anymore... In the Sporting Youth, News Channel 3's Chet Davis paid a visit to Ramp Art located in Arcata. 

3 Deep Coverage is back for another season on News Channel 3. On the first show, we preview all nine high school football teams... There are new coaches at both Eureka and St. Bernard's. We also visit both Humboldt State and College of the Redwoods.

Chris Russell has been racing horses at the Humboldt County Fair for three years. News Channel 3's Chet Davis caught up with Russell at the Ferndale track to learn about the lifestyle of a jockey. 

 

The BMX track at Redwood Acres was a busy place over the weekend with two exciting days of racing.

FC Samoa is a girls soccer team that plays throughout the summer. And last week, the girls got to learn from a professional soccer coach. But as News Channel 3's Chet Davis explains, learning wasn't that easy.

The Crabs are once again the Far West League champions!  That's three in a row!  News Channel 3's Chet Davis recaps Humboldt's wild Sunday to win the title.  

Most baseball careers end after high school.  But those careers can be revived in the Humboldt Classic Senior Softball Association.
