Aaron Cloud is averaging only 5.5 points per game, but he's shooting almost 60 percent from three.  What's more impressive about Cloud's shooting performances is his journey to get back on the court.  Aaron Cloud is the News Channel 3 Athlete of the Week.  

The Humboldt State softball season opener is just over a week away. But before they start their quest for a National Championship, the Jacks helped teach younger players for two days on the Arcata campus. Chet Davis has more with the Sporting Youth

It's a new edition of the Fab Five!  The top plays from the basketball courts this weekend.  

Entering the third week of conference play in high school girls basketball, there is a three-way tie atop the Big 5 Standings... Arcata, Eureka and Fortuna entered Friday night all even in league play with 2-1 records. While the Tigers hosted the Loggers, the Huskies welcomed Del Norte to the Friendly City. There were also some great match-ups in the Little 4. St. Bernard's was trying to stay...

He'll be a big factor in the little four basketball season and his last name has become a staple in Southern Humboldt.  Christian Alatorre is the News Channel 3 Athlete of the Week.  

The Arcata Community Center is the place to be for Ping-Pong. The sport continues to grow with athletes of all ages. News Channel 3's Chet Davis has the story.



It's week two of the high school basketball conference season. There were five games on the court... Some great match-up's from both the Big 5 and Little 4. Humboldt State makes its way to Southern California with games at Dominguez Hills and Los Angeles. C/R men's basketball meanwhile looks to remain perfect in the GVC. We also have the Player Profile segment.


David Howard averaged almost 27 points during Humboldt State's recent two-game home stand. Where has this junior forward been the last couple years? We'll actually, he wasn't on the team. News Channel 3's Chet Davis has the story. Howard is the Athlete of the Week.


Imagine having to travel three to four hours every week to play a sport. That's the reality for many North Coast teams including wrestling. Eureka however, got to stay home this past weekend and host its very own tournament. News Channel's 3's Chet Davis has the story.


1. Phoenix High School, Phoenix, OR (199.5 points) placed seven in the finals with two wrestlers capturing first.

2. Pleasant Valley High School, Pleasant Valley, CA ( 142 points)

3. Eureka High School, Eureka, CA (141 points) placed three in the finals with one first place finish.

22 teams competed in a tough and well attended tournament (over 500 in attendance). Local...

Conference play has arrived for high school basketball on the North Coast. Friday was a busy night with 12 boys and girls hoop teams taking to the court. We have highlights of all the action. Humboldt State looks to make it two in a row hosting San Francisco. And we head to College of the Redwoods for our first Player Profile of the season.



It's a new year and a new conference season is about to begin for high school basketball.  But before we look forward to 2014, lets look back at the end of 2013 when Joslynn Silvers ended the year with a game-winning shot.  Silvers is the News Channel 3 Athlete of the Week.  

This past weekend, Ferndale hosted Barrels by the Bay featuring Barrel racing. For those of you who don't know what that is, News Channel 3's Chet Davis met with the riders to learn about the event. Here's the Sporting Youth.


Cody Hoffman was a senior at Del Norte High School five years ago with no Division 1 offers to play football.  Then BYU took a gamble on a kid from Crescent City, who would turn out to be the most prolific receiver in Cougars history.  Cody Hoffman is the News Channel 3 Athlete of the Week.
