Lauren McCoy gave teams nightmare's all season long here on the North Coast and helped lead Arcata girls basketball to the Big 5 and Niclai Championship. News Channel 3's Chet Davis caught up with the scoring, blocking, rebounding machine.

 

The McKinleyville wrestling team has swept the past two tournaments here on the North Coast including the NCS Dual Meet Championship. But as News Channel 3's Chet Davis explains, a year ago, the Panthers cam up just a few points short of the title.

 

Basketball is almost over, but this Fab Five features arguably the Top Play of the season!

It was championship night in high school basketball. The boys and girls Niclai winners were crowned at Lumberjack Arena. Humboldt State takes to its home court one final time. And the Player Profile segment features a member of the College of the Redwoods men's basketball team.  The Corsairs just ended the regular season tied for second in the Golden Valley Conference. 

It may have taken extra innings, but the College of the Redwoods softball team got the proverbial monkey off its back with a 5-4 win in eight innings in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader against Mendocino in Ukiah on Thursday.

The Corsairs fell 5-1 in the opener, but actually out-hit Mendocino 6-2 in the game.

Nate Ambrosini signed with Chico State basketball back in late November. Before the start of his senior season, Ambrosini had high expectations for his Fortuna Huskies. And they did not disappoint. News Channel 3's Chet Davis has the story with the Athlete of the Week.

 

ARCATA – Former Oakland Raider Tim Brown will be the keynote speaker at the 29th Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner & Auction on Sat., March 29 at Humboldt State University. Don and Carolyn Johnson will be the honored guests.
