He has taken the HDN golf scene by storm.  Kobie Lockwood is only a sophomore at Del Norte High and just clinched his second conference title.  News Channel 3's Chet Davis caught up with the young star to talk about the past, the present and the future.  

Over the weekend, Humboldt State soccer treated youngsters to a free clinic in Eureka. News Channel 3's Chet Davis was there to take in all the action. 

 

Nicole Vollmer plays four sports including volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis.  What's even more impressive, is Vollmer competes in varsity tennis against the boys.  News Channel 3's Chet Davis caught up with the Ferndale senior, who's our Athlete of the Week.  

College of the Redwood’s James Slade will call Rohnert Park home next season. The Ferndale graduate is expected to join the Sonoma State basketball program in the fall. There’s a chance Slade will also play baseball for the Seawolves.

It’s not too often we find a sport most people have never heard of. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports around the country. But as News Channel three’s Chet Davis explains, it’s been around for decades.

Kayla Reed started on the diamond at the young age of seven for Mad River Softball. She moved on to a travel team and then Arcata High School where she has been the Tigers starting pitcher all four years.

Next up is college where Reed will attend Corban University in the fall.

Humboldt State softball has found its groove the last two weeks, winning 13 of its last 15 games.  Sophomore pitcher Liz Perez is responsible for almost half of those wins.  News Channel 3's Chet Davis breaks down the impressive streak the right-hander is on.  Liz Perez is our Athlete of the Week.

Eureka-The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods hosted a youth baseball clinic for boys and girls ages 5-10 on Sunday, April 6th at Winship Middle School. The event was to promote their new summer program, Junior Giants, which will launch in Eureka this summer. Humboldt State football wrapped up its spring campaign this past weekend.The Lumberjacks played the annual green and gold spring game at the Redwood Bowl. But before the game kicked off, the Jacks gave back to the community. News Channel 3’s Chet Davis explains in this week’s sporting youth. 

The College of the Redwoods track and field team had another strong performance at the San Francisco State Invitational Distance Carnival on Friday, which was the first day of the two-day meet.
