‘Tipsy Tow’: AAA offers free towing for New Year’s celebrators
EUREKA- If you’re thinking about ringing in the New Year with a few drinks, AAA is offering a safe option to get home from the festivities. To help in the fight against drunk driving, AAA will once again be offering it’s Tipsy Tow service to residents in Eureka, Arcata and Fortuna.
“The biggest thing that we offer here at AAA is piece of mind for our members and safety to the community,” AAA Business Manager Justin McCray said. “So this really goes with our values and our behaviors is being able to offer piece of mind and safety to the community by providing this service.”
The free service is being offered from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. New Years Day. AAA is partnering with three local towing services to provide up to ten miles of free towing to anyone who has had too much to drink and cannot drive home.
The program has been going on for over a decade now with the help of local companies. Eureka’s pacific towing says they’ve been partnering with AAA for nineteen years now and are grateful for the opportunity to help keep the community safe.
“If it's a situation where we cause one, or help somebody to not cause an accident or if it helps one person out, well it's worth while,” Pacific Towing Owner Dwight Mullins said.
