Two way traffic is open after being closed for more than five hours after a semi truck carrying boulders overturned traveling North on Hwy 101. The accident happened at 10:30AM and traffic was immediately closed both ways.
The driver, Marc Joseph Leonard of McKinnleyville, was taken to an area hospital and suffered minor injuries.
According to CHP Officer Matt Harvey, Leonard was allegedly traveling north at an unsafe speed when he turned left when his truck load shifted causing him to turn over on the its right side.
According to CHP officer Tom Dammonn said one of their main priorities was to prevent any diesel from spilling as they turned the truck upright.
Traffic was closed both ways for several hours while crews moved the boulders and cleaned up the roadways, and opened up to one way controlled traffic before opening up to regular traffic flow.
