Two California Highway Patrol officers were killed in a crash early this morning. It happened around 6 am on Highway 99 near Kingsburg south of Fresno.
CHP said the officers, Brian Law and Juan Gonzalez were responding to an accident when they themselves were involved in a chain-reaction crash hitting a guard rail and flipping over. Both officers were wearing their seat belts but died from injuries.
Governor Brown issued a statement regarding the incident.
“ Anne and I extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the families, friends and colleagues of officers Law and Gonzalez as they mourn the tragic loss of these dedicated public servants. We join all Californians in honoring these officers for their courage, commitment and service.”
