EUREKA – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for a suspect in a crime that took place a year ago.

The District Attorney’s office is now calling on the community for help in locating the suspect, wanted for shooting at a California Fish and Wildlife officer.

This man, Shawn Eugene Jof, Jr., is thought to have tried shooting the wildlife officer back in August of last year.

The officer was patrolling Carlotta on Redwood House Road near Highway 36 when he saw a pickup truck using spotlights.

He attempted to stop the truck, but the driver sped away and a chase ensued.

During the pursuit, Hof allegedly started shooting at the officer while sitting in the rear.

The truck then ran into a tree, and the suspects escaped into the woods.

Shawn is described as 5’9’’ and 150 pounds.

A $20,000 reward is available for information leading to an arrest.
