Hydesville - A Scotia man has turned himself in to authorities after allegedly committing sexual battery in Hydesville.
Arrested was 21-year-old Daniel Jerry Wiggins. Wednesday around 5 pm, Wiggins allegedly entered Murrish Market, hung out in the restroom for 45 minutes then began acting bizarre: coming up behind the 18-year-old victim, hugging her and making sexual comments.
The victim told Wiggins to get away. Before he left, he repeatedly asked for the victim’s phone number, which she refused. It was then he grabbed her on the buttock and left. Deputies checked the area but could not find him.
Thursday morning Wiggins turned himself in to Fortuna Police. He has been booked into the Humboldt County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
