55-year-old dies after crash along Avenue of the Giants

MYERS FLAT- A 55-year-old Miranda man is dead after a car accident on Avenue of the Giants. Passenger, Jimmy F. Lincks died as a result of his injuries at Redwood Memorial Hospital on Sunday.

According to California Highway Patrol on Friday a Fortuna man was driving a 1989 Freightliner truck southbound on SR-254 when he turned onto Elk Creek Road and allegedly turned in front of a 2006 Toyota Corolla carrying two passengers.

For unknown reasons the two cars collided sending all three to Redwood Memorial Hospital and were later released. Lincks, the passenger of the Toyota, returned to the hospital on Sunday and died as a result of his injuries from the crash.

Authorities said everyone in the crash appeared to be wearing their seatbelts and that alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
