American Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Apps now available in Spanish

The American Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Apps have been downloaded almost 5 million times since they became available in recent years.  Now they are also available in Spanish.

The Red Cross First Aid App provides expert advice for different emergencies. The other 5 applications are earthquake, wildfire, flood, hurricane and tornado apps, which give people real-time updates on emergencies as well as instructions on what to do before, during and after them.  They also give people the chance to notify others if they are safe in an emergency situation.

"Humboldt and Del Norte Counties are the most earthquake prone in the lower 48 states.  We have the strong possibility that we're going to be isolated for days, if not weeks after an emergency.  It's very important that we be prepared.  Now that we have Spanish language apps, the folks in our counties who speak Spanish as their first language are going to be able to access the information for preparedness, response, and what to do during a disaster," said Barbara Caldwell, the Executive Director for the Humboldt-Del Norte Chapter of the American Red Cross.
