ARCATA- Hundreds came out for a free Thanksgiving meal today at the Arcata Community Center.
The second annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner ran from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday. During that time those in need or those with nowhere else to go were able to enjoy a hot Thanksgiving dinner complete with all of the fixings. Organizers say that local farms donated most of the food served and nearly 100 volunteers helped to make the dinner possible.
“Nobody really knows anybody else that's here,” said Organizer Luke Patterson. “You know what I mean, it's a bunch of people getting together to pull off a really special event. It blows my mind how many people have volunteered their time on Thanksgiving Day to be here to pitch in and help out and make a difference.”
