Arcata Council to consider permitting for street murals
ARCATA- The City of Arcata will consider approving a measure that would allow residents and businesses to paint street murals with a permit from the city.
The council will consider the ordinance at their next city council meeting on Wednesday. The city will determine what types of guidelines will regulate the murals. The city will consider the mural's maintenance, impacts of paint materials and any liabilities the city could face as a result of the paintings.
The ordinance comes to the council in response to a painting on 10th and L street done last year in the Creamery District by event organizers. Previously, other residents have expressed interest in the idea.
