Arcata man shoots at deer, strikes house

ARCATA- A bullet hit an Arcata home Sunday night, authorities said the shots were fired by a neighbor who was shooting at a deer.

According to Sgt. Det. Todd Dokweiler, shots were heard in the area of Park Avenue near Redwood Park around 6:20 p.m. Dokweiler said a bullet struck and entered a home on the 600 block of Park Avenue. No one was injured.

Officers responded to the scene, but did not find anyone. In their investigation Monday, Dokweiler said the department learned the neighbor had fired the gun.

No arrests have been made, the department is forwarding the case to the Humboldt County District Attorney's office for review.
