Arcata man tasered by police on Highway 101 corridor
HUMBOLDT COUNTY- An Arcata man is tasered by police after walking directly through traffic on Highway 101 between Eureka and the Indianola cut-off.
Around 8:30pm Tuesday night, the California Highway Patrol said 24 year old Cory Owsley seemed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol while crossing the highway. As a result traffic began backing up, causing congestion for drivers. A CHP officer on scene issued multiple demands, telling Owsley to get out of the road. Owsley ignored the officer and continued through traffic. To prevent injuries to other drivers CHP officials said the officer saw the need to take action and tasered Owsley.
Multiple units arrived on scene as Owsley continued to resist arrest. Officers were able to handcuff Owsley and transport him to the hospital for evaluation.
