ARCATA- In a unanimous decision the Arcata City Council expanded their open container law.
Currently, drinking is only prohibited outdoors in the plaza, the Union Town Shopping Area and North Town. The change will expand the ban to public streets, sidewalks, parking lots and other property owned or leased by the city.
Up for discussion at Wednesday's meeting was a proposal to increase the city's smoking ban boundary west from J to K street. The council did not make a decision and provided staff with other ideas.
