Army Sgt. Christopher Mulalley of Eureka dies in Afghanistan
EUREKA- A Eureka man serving in the U.S. Army, 26-year-old Sgt. Christopher Mulalley, died in Afghanistan. His death is under investigation.
Twenty-six-year-old US Army Sgt. Christopher Mulalley of Eureka died in Gardez, Afghanistan on Friday. Officials at Fort Hood, where he was stationed, confirm his death was the result of a non-combat related incident, which is still under investigation. However, family members say they were informed by military personnel that Mulalley’s death was combat related, and the details would be released after the investigation is complete. Christopher Mulalley graduated from Eureka High School in 2006 and leaves behind a wife and two sons. He joined the U.S. Army as an infantryman in 2006 and served one deployment in Iraq and two in Afghanistan, including this latest deployment. Among Sgt. Mulalley’s awards and decorations are three army commendation medals and four army achievement medals.
