FORTUNA- California assembly member Jim Wood was in downtown Fortuna Friday morning assessing the damage from Wednesday's fire at the Historic Star Hotel Building.
"I wanted to talk to the city manager and understand what happened here," Assemblymember Wood said. "I understand it was a pretty good coordinated response. I understand more about that and what can we do better in the future."
Wood also met with the Eureka Chamber of Commerce, Planned Parenthood of Northern California, Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District, the Eureka Rotary and CHP while here. He says he hopes to visit the North Coast as much as possible.
"It's about how can we be helpful, how can we understand some of the issues and challenges that are going on and just to let people know I'm here," Wood said.
