Bake sale, jeans fundraiser held to raise autism awareness
EUREKA- St. Patrick's Day got a little sweeter Tuesday with green frosted cupcakes, cookies and other treats at Humboldt Land Title Company in Eureka.
The baked goods were part of a fundraiser supporting Families Advocating Autism Now and the Autism Speaks organization. Along with the treats, more than 100 business from Eureka to Weaverville helped raise funds for the cause by celebrating Jeans Day. Employees paid $5 to $10 to wear jeans all day at work.
Organizers say with the bake sale and jeans campaign combined, they expect to raise more than $7,000 for Autism awareness
"In reality we live everyday with a child with autism, our eight year old was diagnosed when he was two years old," Fatima Naylor
Families Advocating Autism Now president said. "It's a very simple way to for people to participate and anyone at any level can. five dollars is not so difficult and an easy way."
