Bandemonium brings Christmas spirit to Serenity Inn
EUREKA - Merry music filled the air outside of Serenity Inn Christmas day as a local band entertained the public with Christmas carols.
“We play a lot of open air events. We play on the street a lot. The idea is to animate the streets of Humboldt County,” Gregg Moore, Bandemonium band leader, said.
Bandemonium is a community driven music ensemble featuring an eclectic group from middle school and high school students to local professionals and teachers. On Thursday, the group set up in front of the Serenity Inn along Broadway where their music instantly drew people from inside their homes.
There was clapping and singing to the traditional tunes of “Jingle Bells” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and even some dancing broke out in the parking lot. The group has been playing together since 2005 and frequents many areas around the community. Thursday was their first time in front of the inn.
“We were invited. One of our members has been working in mental health and substance abuse issues for many many years and she's recently retired and we're always looking for places to play and sort of bring our joyous noise in the streets to different people and this was just one opportunity,” Moore explained.
