BAYSIDE - A home is destroyed after emergency crews respond to a structure fire in Bayside.
Arcata Fire and other volunteers were on the scene just after five Thursday night following reports of a blaze on the 4400 of Dubeault Road. First arriving crews found a house that was about 50 percent involved. While working to extinguish the flames, power lines broke resulting in a live line. PG&E was called in and the power line was secured. Jacoby Creek Road, was blocked for a short period to allow fire personnel and other help through. It was reopened shortly after 7 p.m.. No one was injured in the fire. Happily, even the resident’s dog made it out safely.
“With the number of fire crews that we had as well as our volunteers that showed up on scene, we were able to do a two hose line interior tack on the interior of the building and we were able to use one of our deck guns off our engine to help knock down the large volume fire on the exterior of the building,” Jenny Williamson, Arcata Fire Protection District Public Information Officer, said.
