Blood bank would like to see first time donors in 2015
EUREKA-The Northern California Community Blood Bank is looking for new donors for the upcoming year. They have a current group of donors who come in consistently, however they’re looking to get those donors some help. The director says, that it’s not only blood that’s needed. They need plasma and most importantly platelets, due to their short shelf life of only five days.
“2014 was an excellent year for us. We did really well with all the donation types that we do. One place that we did fall short was first time donors. We have the need for about 2,500 first time donors every year to offset the number of people who become ineligible. So, in 2015, we'd really like to see some new folks that haven't donated before,” said John Gullam, Director of Donor Recruitment at NCCBB.
