Blue Lake and Sheriff's Department agree on new contract
BLUE LAKE- Blue Lake City Council and the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office have signed a new three-year contract to provide law enforcement services to residents. The Sheriff's Department and the city council have been negotiating the terms of the agreement since the end of December.
Deputies were at the Blue Lake substation Wednesday, the day after the contract was signed. While the terms of the agreement were being negotiated no deputies were at the substation, but the sheriff's office still maintained patrols and services to the area.
"It's a good thing to say that we have police coverage," said Sherman Schapiro, the Mayor of Blue Lake.
