BLUE LAKE - One teacher at the Blue Lake Elementary School wanted to create a school garden and the community made it happen.
Monday, a second grade class at the elementary school planted different plants around their new gym. The gym was made possible by a bond, and teacher Terry Bean Iverson wanted to keep the energy going.
Iverson was able to collect $3,000 worth of soil and more than $200 worth of plants from local businesses.
On Monday, the students began the process of gardening. Iverson is excited for the students to learn responsibility and how to tend to plants.
"I love gardening. That's my second passion besides teaching. And I wanted the kids involved and the parents involved so they take care of it. They've been out here weeding with me. They're very excited,” Terry Bean Iverson said.
