BLUE LAKE- Residents did not approve Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Department's benefit assessment. 58 percent of the waited ballots voted against the proposal. The measure would have increased the average single family residents, with 4 unit of assessments, from $36 to $120.
Results came in Wednesday night after a public hearing at the fire hall. The special tax would have funded fire services, improved fire protection and emergency services in the district.
The district said their call volume has increased, and will work with the community to find alternative funding.
The election results will be certified at the next district meeting on November 5th.
