Blue Lake's Public Safety Commission met this week to discuss the city's contract with the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office. The committee is in the final phases of drafting their proposal before they give it to the city council.
Over the past few months the Commission has gathered information from the community and are planning to ask for more night patrols, increase the amount of neighborhood watches, and ask for animal control services.
The city sent out a public safety survey and conducted a town hall meeting to see what the community thought of law enforcement's presence in the community. The committee hopes to hold meetings and hand out surveys annually to help them determine the needs of residents.
