BLUE LAKE- The Board of Supervisors will decide at Tuesday's meeting whether or not they will help to fund the levee in Blue Lakes certification required by the federal government. If the levee is not certified residents in Blue Lake will have to purchase flood insurance.
All levees are required to be certified by the Corp of Engineers after Hurricane Katrina. The city is funding one-third of the cost, as one-third of the levee is in Blue Lake. Board of Supervisors are expected to decide if they will fund the remaining two-thirds of the levee.
