Blue Lake Sheriff's Contract Proposal Approved By City Council
The Blue Lake city council unanimously approved a proposal that will start negotiations for the city's new contract with the sheriff's office. City staff will start negotiations based off of suggestions compiled from the city's Public Safety Commission.
The city is asking for more opportunities to develop neighborhood watches, yearly data reports on crime and animal control services for the city. The contract with the sheriff's office is set to expire at the end of the year.
The Commission was formed this year to help tackle the new contract. The commission worked to get public input on the issue. Blue Lake residents were asked about what they thought of law enforcement presence in the city through a survey and in a town hall meeting.
