EUREKA- A campaign finance cap was discussed at the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday morning. Only 18 counties in the state currently have a finance cap on campaign donations and Humboldt is looking to do the same. Currently, the county has no cap for donations or monetary contributions made to a specific campaign.
The board directed staff to review neighboring Sonoma counties finance ordinance and draft a similar one. If passed, this would put limits on the amount of money either one individual or a group could donate to a campaign.
Staff will bring back recommendations in two weeks.
