The newly renovated Boys and Girls Club of the Redwoods Clubhouse made its debut today.
Volunteers have been working non-stop for the last five days installing new appliances and making improvements. Local Rotary Clubs along the North Coast have teamed to do what they call a S.W.O.T. operation; it stands for "serving with our talents." It’s a large hands-on volunteer effort to revitalize buildings for deserving non-profits.
Some of the changes to the clubhouse include a new grass lawn, homework area and a big screen t-v. Boys and Girls Club Board Members said this renovation will help serve the 75 kids they see each day.
“This place was pretty dilapidated and it needed a lot of work,” Dylan Sacco said. “What they've done here is turn it around and it looks fabulous compared to what it looked like before. All in all it's just a great effort from all of them."
Coordinators estimate that the cost of the renovation is around $40,000, and that most of that money was donated.
