BREAKING: Deputy shot and killed in Mendocino County, suspect commits suicide
CLEONE- The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Deputy Ricky Del Fiorentino was shot dead, and the suspect took his own life shortly after.
It started in Eugene, Oregon when the suspect, Ricardo Chaney, allegedly stole a BMW and kidnapped its owners. According to authorities Chaney wound up at Confusion Hill off of Highway 101 and an incident took place with the owner of that business where shots were fired.
Chaney escaped and continued onto Highway 1 where he reached speeds of more than 100 mph. Deputies lost sight of him but at one point just outside of Fort Bragg Deputy Del Fiorentino came in contact with the driver and then shots were exchanged. The deputy was found dead, in his vehicle riddled with gunshots, and the suspect was found in nearby bushes with a gunshot wound to his leg, and then reportedly took his own life.
Authorities said they have recovered the weapon. As for the kidnap victims they fled, but have not yet been located.
