Bureau of Reclamation response to tribe's plea for more water
Eastern Humboldt- The Bureau of Reclamation has decided not to release any additional water into the Trinity river at this time. Despite local tribe's and stakeholders requests, the bureau said they will wait until they release more water.
In a statement the Bureau released the following statement:
This decision was made in response to proposals and recommendations from tribes, water and power users, and other partners with an interest in the health of fall run Chinook salmon returns on the Lower Klamath river. We are aware of low flow projections on the Lower Klamath, and have been working with our partners on what actions reclamation can take to protect fall run Chinook from disease outbreaks associated with low flows and high water temperatures.
