The US Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns over the Humboldt Marten, a solitary animal related to badgers, weasels and the mink. The concern is for their numbers and whether or not they should go on the endangered species list.
Wildlife officials say they want to open up a twelve-month information collection period to add to a first step study that was completed in 2010 and hinted the Humboldt Marten might need consideration for protection.
