Cadets graduate from CR Law Enforcement Academy
EUREKA- 31 cadets graduated Friday afternoon at College of the Redwoods 112th police academy graduation. Of those graduating, various law enforcement departments have hired eight and others are in different stages of the selection processes, some with multiple agencies.
Those already with jobs include: Thomas Corning and Miguel Vazquez. (Mendocino County Sheriff's Department); Jermaine Jones (Rocklin Police Department); Sarah Asbury (Crescent City Police Department); Sammy Gentle and Liana Wayne (Humboldt County Social Services Special Investigations Unit); Ryan Souza (Sacramento Police Department); and Ryan Welch (Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department)
The 112th class started in July. "These cadets have excelled in all aspects of police training, from academic testing to scenario evaluations," said CR Basic Law Enforcement Academy Coordinator Rick Grimm. "They also performed over 600 hours of local community service benefitting many local nonprofit groups."
The 113th CR Basic Law Enforcement Academy starts Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 and currently has 21 cadets with more expected in the next few weeks as well as more than a dozen expected to join Module 1 of the academy in March. Anyone interested in attending the academy starting in July should contact the CR Law Enforcement Training Center at 476-4334 for information.
Representing CR at the graduation will be CR President/Superintendent Kathy Smith; CR Board of Trustees members Dr. Colleen Mullery; and CR Emergency Response Training Center Director Ron Waters along with Academy Coordinator Rick Grimm.
