Fortuna - Burn permits in Humboldt, Del Norte and parts of Siskiyou and Trinity counties are to be suspended.
The ban will begin June 22nd at midnight and continue until formally canceled by Cal Fire. It’s very early in the fire season and already Cal Fire has responded to almost 2300 wildfires across the state. That is nearly double what is normal for this time of year.
Weather forecasters are predicting above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation and the potential for larger fires is greater than usual.
Authorities are reminding homeowners to keep lawns short and get rid of any potential fuel for fires around you house. And remember, every gallon of water you save is water that firefighters can use to protect California from more wildfires.
