Cal Fire is lifting burning restrictions in Humboldt, Del Norte, and parts of Trinity and Siskiyou Counties beginning today...The agency says it's due to recent rainfall and favorable weather. The suspension lift is for State Responsibility Areas. Even though the suspension has been lifted, you still need a permit to burn. For 4-foot piles...you can get them from the North Coast Unified Air Quality Management...or your local Cal Fire Station for any burns larger than that.
Officials say the public still needs to use caution when burning. Cricket Baird, Fire Prevention Specialist for Cal Fire warned, "Even though we have had this rain, we still need to be very, very careful. Right now it's cooler...it's damp...those conditions could change."
Safe burning still requires a minimum of 10' clearance around the 4-foot piles and an adult must be in attendance at all times. For more information regarding Burn Days call 1-866-287-6329
