Caltrans worker struck by motorist on Murray Road overpass in McKinleyville.
MCKINLEYVILLE- CHP officers said a Caltrans worker was hit Thursday afternoon on the Murray Road overpass in McKinleyville. According to CHP McKinleyville resident George Hurt, 84, was driving his 1998 Cadillac Sedan westbound on Murray Road approaching a Caltrans worker who was holding a "slow" sign while directing traffic for a bridge crew. The driver failed to stop and hit the worker head on. Officers said the worker sustained major injuries and was taken to St. Jospeh Hospital in Eureka. Officers said DUI does not appear to be a factor, the incident is still under investigation.
