Campaign finance reform ordinance on Humboldt County Supervisors’ agenda
EUREKA- Campaign finance reform is on the agenda for Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting.
A special committee will introduce an ordinance limiting campaign contributions in Humboldt County to $1,500 per donor, per election cycle. The ordinance is modeled after a similar initiative in Sonoma County meant to ensure that no candidate is influenced by monetary contributions from any one organization.
The supervisors say they have proposed campaign finance reform several times over the past year and are finally moving forward.
The board will hold a public hearing on the issue in at 1:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors’ Chamber.
