Campaign nets more than 30 DUI arrests in first week
The number of arrests for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol continues to grow as the Avoid the 7’s “Winter Holiday Anti-DUI” crackdown continues.
Today marks day eight and so far 35 people throughout the county have been arrested for DUI. That number is up 15 from last year’s amount during that same time period. From Friday night to Saturday morning, officers from seven local agencies were out conducting a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint at G Street and Samoa Boulevard in Arcata. As a result, five people were arrested for DUI and another five were either cited or arrested for driving unlicensed.
Law enforcement will be searching for impaired drivers with extra patrols through New Year’s weekend.
