Car crash ends in foot pursuit, three taken to hospital
LOLETA- A car crash ends in foot pursuit and lands three people at Redwood Memorial Hospital Tuesday night. It happened northbound Highway 101 around 3 p.m. when officers said Ronald Owings, 57 of Eureka was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when for unknown reasons veered off the side of the road and crashed down a steep embankment.
According to officers, Owings bailed on foot and lead officers on a short foot chase before he was eventually taken into custody. The two passengers inside were reportedly injured as well and all three were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Owings is facing charges of felony hit and run, resisting arrest, and had a previous felony no bail warrant. Stay with News Channel Three as the story develops.
