EUREKA- For 18 years a group of county officials have been working together make the experiences surrounding child abuse less traumatic for families and children. Humboldt County Child Abuse Services (CAST) is opening up their doors on Tuesday to the community for an open house to introduce them to the people working in the group.
The team is a collection of law enforcement officials, professionals from the Department of Public Heath and the District Attorney's office as well as tribal representatives. The group has put in place a location other than a law enforcement building to interview children somewhere that they are comfortable during an investigation. There the child can be interviewed at one location instead of retelling it again at another place.
The group will hold their open house at their location on 333 K Street in Eureka on Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.
