Chamber of Commerce honors business leaders

Several business leaders along the north coast were honored at the 124th annual Eureka Chamber of Commerce Dinner Thursday night.

Over 300 people came out to the sold out dinner to celebrate and recognize businesses who have made an impact on the local economy for the past year. A total of six businesses were given awards for meaningful contributions in 2013 to the best interests of the community. Honors were presented in specific categories.

Of those categories, the lifetime service award was given to Dennis Hunter for his volunteerism and serving four terms with Humboldt Bay Harbor District. The award of merit was handed to the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation and John Sapper was honored the Tom Cooke Award for his services with the Humboldt County Office of Education. Business Person of the Year went to president of City Ambulance of Eureka, Fred Sundquist, and Small Business of the Year went to Health Sport. Finally, Business of the Year was awarded to business owner Gregg Gardner of 101 Things To Do which is now in twenty three market areas and will soon be launching a national website.
