EUREKA - You’ll be seeing some changes for the Del Norte and Eureka chapters of the Red Cross in the near future.

The two offices have been looking to relocate. For Del Norte, the move is motivated by some unused space in their current office. They are moving to a slightly smaller office in their current building.

For Humboldt, the move comes after some safety concerns at their present place. The Eureka office is still considering locations, looking in Eureka, Arcata, and McKinleyville.

In addition to the physical moves, some Northern California chapters of the Red Cross will also be consolidating. This includes the Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. This process began less than a month ago so details are being worked out.

“The consolidation in no way affects our capacity or disaster services so our ability to respond to single family house fires all the way up to large scale events is the same today and tomorrow as it was 3 weeks ago before we started the process of the consolidation. The community won't see any change in that,” Cris Jones-Koczera, Disaster Program Manager, said.
