CHP on high alert for dangerous drivers over Christmas
HUMBOLDT COUNTY- With more travelers on the roads for the holidays, CHP will be on heightened alert for unsafe motorists Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
The Christmas Maximum Enforcement Period started Tuesday CHP officials will be paying more attention to speeding drivers and drivers they suspect are impaired. They will also be assisting any motorists who need help and advise travelers to be mindful of all road conditions.
“There's going to be parts of the roadway in Humboldt County, especially in the higher elevations where in shady areas it's going to be more icy and so we want to remind motorists to just slow down, keep a safe speed, and try to plan enough time so that you don't need to rush to get where you need to go," said Matt Harvey, the Public Information Officer for CHP.
Officials will also be on extra alert for drivers or passengers failing to wear seatbelts.
