HUMBOLDT COUNTY- Officials with the California Highway Patrol confirm they responded to 128 total DUI related collisions in Northern Humboldt County in 2013. Friday, the CHP will operate a checkpoint in an attempt to make that number smaller this year.

CHP officers will operate a driver license/sobriety checkpoint from 7 p.m. on Friday until 2 a.m. on Saturday.  It will be located somewhere in the unincorporated area of Humboldt County.  Officials say they are going to target a road where there is a high frequency of intoxicated drivers.  Drivers of vehicles found to not have a license will be cited and could have their vehicles towed.

There have been 19 total DUI related collisions in Northern Humboldt County so far in 2014.
