City of Eureka accepts Office of Traffic Safety grants
EUREKA- Over $100,000 has been awarded to the Eureka Police Department. Tuesday night, the Eureka City Council accepted two grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
The first grant is for $20,000 and will be used to fund overtime pay, and for equipment to run DUI/Driver’s License checkpoints. The second grant is for almost $100,000 and it will fund special patrol operations for distracted drivers and for drivers committing violations that normally lead to collisions. Other equipment will be purchased with this grant as well, including a new DUI checkpoint trailer.
