Class teaches women how to maintain physical appearance while battling cancer
EUREKA- Cancer treatment has many side effects, including ones that impact someone’s physical appearance. A monthly class in Eureka designed to help women overcome those obstacles will be taught Tuesday.
The American Cancer Society is collaborating with the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the Professional Beauty Association and the National Cosmetology Association for Look Good…Feel Better. This program will feature lessons by professional licensed beauty professionals to teach women how they can maintain a beautiful appearance while fighting cancer. Instructors say the class provides supports women with cancer for a variety of reasons.
"It gives them the opportunity to have hope that there is a way to get through this together. And the other important part about it I think is we just have the opportunity to have fun. It's not a fun thing to have cancer and this is an opportunity to get with other women and just have some fun doing girly things," said Chenal Ptacek, the Cosmetology Instructor.
The program will be held at the American Cancer Society Eureka Office Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at 2942 F Street in Eureka. To register for the free event or for more information, call 442-1436 and select option 3. For more information about cancer related services, visit cancer.org or call 1-800-227-2345.
