Two Humboldt county residents are charged for violating the clean water act. The civil complaint was for violations for illegal mining of sensitive wetlands in the Bridgeville area off of highway 36.
The alleged violations by Daniel Vojcik and Robert Wotherspoon concern large scale surface mining of peat over a period of more than a decade. The Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office turned the case over to the Circuit Prosecutor Project in Sacramento… Wojcik and Wotherspoon cooperated in a settlement of the matter and have entered felony and misdemeanor pleas for violating the clean water act. Mr.Wojcik will serve 500 hours of community service and Mr. Wotherspoon 100 hours The settlement also ensures the wetlands will be restored.
